Hi there, sound people!. I finally got it all together to start some blogging!.
So yeah, in one of my side quests to improve on the digitized version of The Level 42 Gillingham 81 gig, I found a pc Dolby B decoder. You see, when I captured through my RME ufx in 2013, I had the dolby turned off on the cassette deck, DOH!!.
I thought it was too dull with it switched on, but didn't realise the dynamic changes the encode/decode process has on the signal. From reading the info that came with the software, it seems it uses some kind of split band dynamic filtering.
It's a command line/batch file kind of deal, but very simple to use.
Of interest to only a few I should imagine, but you can find it here.
I will of course post any worthwhile updates on the recording after some experimenting.
New video on eq and dynamic smothering coming soon.
